Here, There Be Bears

Here, there be bears, and books, and art, and so much more. It’s a library, after all.

More specifically, the Washington Public Library, where we went to see the children’s collection.

Since I knitted en route (from the passenger’s seat, folks), it was amusing to arrive at a yarn-bombed front door.

Fused glass art work by a local artist brought the colors inside.

Downstairs we met more books, including some from the historic Scofield collection …

… and more bears:

Did I mention that the temperature outdoors evoked the atmosphere of a polar expedition?

So I was surprised to find relics of a warmer climate, too. We were there to talk books, and iPads, and library services, but I couldn’t resist the chance to meet the kachina, nestled in a box for safe keeping.
