Wildlife, Wine, and Roses

While Winterthur’s blooms continue in all their glory, today I ended up paying attention to fauna as well as flora.

When I ventured out into the sun at lunch, there was the koi pond. How one fails to find a koi pond of this size, with fish surfacing at the first sign of potential snacks, is a mystery. Now I know, and thanks to an obliging toddler and his crackers, there are fish photos.

Prior to this lunch-time excursion, the only hint of fish was in a McLoughlin Brothers portfolio.

Back in the stacks, I met a squirrel.

That’s right. A plastic squirrel wearing a hand-knitted cowl, vintage jewelry, and a fascinator.

No doubt there’s a story here. I’ll get to it later. There are some other things that need attention now.
