This Is Just to Say

When I was walking home I saw
cabbages dusted with the frosty shades of damson plums …

and so many more things I didn’t photograph:

three little tabby cats,
and two large stone dogs;

walkers with their carriages and cell phones;

houses surrounded by gardens settling into the end of season;

red roses glowing
and the woods going dark at dusk.

These I did snap:

The zinnias I wrote about last year …

and the sphere warning where the sidewalk ended.

They were all so beautiful.
