Way up in the Sky

Part of what is so intriguing about flying is the ascent and descent, when the world telescopes in and out of view. There are moments when it looks like one hovers over the set of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, trees and houses diminutive but distinctly outlined.

A weekend conference meant a connection in Chicago en route to Manhattan. I caught a glimpse of Chicago’s skyline, platinum structures rising from the mist in the morning light but couldn’t capture it.

The snowy landscapes were arresting in their outlines and contours ….

It’s like a line out of Travels With My Aunt, but non-stop activity made it seem like the weekend lasted far longer than the quick turn-around that this trip was.
