Blooms 2.0

A few photos from the New England Gardens we’ve seen recently, both simple and elaborate.  I’ve come back and tinkered with this post a bit, adding a few more notes to the hasty comments generated as the boarding announcements for the flight back to the Midwest began.

Tulips were in bloom in Newport.  The warm tones glowed in the late spring sunlight, and I loved their elegant simplicity against the white garden wall:


Other flowers were working their way toward full bloom at the topiary gardens affiliated with the Newport Mansions:




The topiary, ensconced in the midst of a formal garden, was charming.  It was also fully green, and fun to see, too.  I had my heart set on seeing the elephant, once I saw him in a promotional poster, but the bear is a bit of a show-stealer:




The New England weather was mostly kind to us, but it did feel, at times, like going back in time.  Nantucket had gorgeous window boxes and plants long past season in my garden:
