I had to give a talk at another institution a few days ago, and icy weather made for flight delays, cancellations, and crazy arrangements to get where one needed to go. It’s complicated, but I ended up flying from Vancouver very early one morning. The views of the Canadian Rockies from my airplane window were simply stunning, almost making my circuitous route worthwhile. Seeing the mountain range from the air gives new meaning to the notion of “fly-over country,” because how else could one get such perspective on them?
Even the blurry picture from the ascent has its appeal.
Definitely the best perk for flight delays that I’ve had in a long time. And on the ground at my destination? Rabbits.
