Despite moments of sunshine, it’s been raining these last few days.  Raining as in every song lyric you’ve ever heard — “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head,” “Here Comes the Rain Again,” “Rain I Don’t Mind,” and on.  And on and on:  the rain gauge does its tally per seven days, but the vast majority of the 4.8″ it records have fallen in the last 48 hours.

On the weekend of the annual garden walk — an event I first read about when I subscribed to the local paper to learn about this town after being accepted into a doctoral program — things look like this in my own garden. Here’s hoping that the gardens on the tour are in glorious shape despite the deluge … and that it stops raining before afternoon.
